Note 9: Due to the different front-end trim packages used on these Ford and Mercury cars, it may be necessary to take a measurement in order to obtain the proper bracket kit. The measurement is taken from the front face of the frame, where it ends just behind the bumper (below the radiator). Measure from this point horizontally to the outside face of the bumper.

If the measurement is 9 1/2" or less - use 421-1 bracket
11 1/2" use the 417-1 bracket
Use the 417-3 bracket if there's no painted plastic under the bumper
13 1/2" or less - use the 415-1 bracket.
